According to legend, it was a Good Friday morning that instead of going to church, Hubert went hunting. He came upon a magnificent stag, the deer turned and looked at him, and what Hubert believed he saw amazed him. A crucifix between its antlers, and is told, heard a voice say the following... 'Hubert, unless thou turnest to the Lord, and leadest an holy life, thou shalt quickly go down into hell'.
